Sculptra injections are a natural technique to replace facial collagen that has been lost. It contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, an alpha-hydroxy acid that belongs to the lactic acid family. Poly-L-lactic acid is a synthetic polymer that has been used in surgical sutures and stitches for many years.

Sculptra is a facial filler that can be used for cosmetic or medicinal reasons to repair and correct symptoms of face loss in patients, including those with HIV. The polymer poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible and biodegradable.

Sculptra comes in 367.5mg strength vials that must be reconstituted before use by adding 5ml of sterile water for injection, resulting in a sterile non-pyrogenic suspension.

    How to Make Use of

The micro-particles of Poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra are combined with sterile water before being injected. Sculptra is then injected beneath the skin, where it breaks down and stimulates collagen formation. The medicine works by gradually increasing the volume of the depressed parts of the face over time. Patients will see a natural and youthful improvement in their skin after 2 or 3 treatments spaced by intervals of 4 or 6 weeks. Sculptra's effects might endure for up to two years.

    Information about safety and precautions

When purchasing Sculptra, you should take a few things into consideration. The following are examples of these:

    * If a patient has any treatment that needs an active dermal response after receiving Sculptra, there is a chance of inflammatory reactions in the injected location. Laser resurfacing and chemical peeling are two examples of such treatments.

    * The safety and efficacy of Sculptra have not been tested in areas where symptoms of lipoatrophy are not evident or where other dermal fillers have been injected.

    * Scuptra's safety and efficacy in the lips have yet to be determined. Sculptra should not be injected into the vermillion area of the lip since it is red.

    * Sculptra should be injected into the deep dermis or the subcutaneous layer. It may cause negative effects such as papules and nodules if injected superficially. If Sculptra is injected in the peri-orbital area, papules and nodules may occur. Sculptra should not be injected into the face with other dermal fillers. Sculptra should only be used to treat lipoatrophy in HIV patients by a medically qualified practitioner who is knowledgeable about the patient's medical history, the product, and the whole package information.
